Some charitable causes are literally right around the corner. For ‘t Weyerke in Heusden-Zolder, just a stone’s throw from our offices, we didn’t need to think twice. This became our biggest sponsorship to date — with an impact to match.

The special ad concept

‘t Weyerke is a care organisation in Heusden-Zolder that provides daily support to people with care needs and transports them to and from the day centre. Reliable minibuses are essential for this, but purchasing a new vehicle is far from straightforward for a care provider.

That’s where special ad comes in. Their concept is as simple as it is clever: they offer advertising space on a vehicle and sell those spots to local businesses. The proceeds are then used to donate the minibus to a good cause — in this case, ‘t Weyerke. The organisation only covers the running costs, while the participating businesses gain visibility on the road, linked to a meaningful social story.

Our contribution

Because ‘t Weyerke is so close to home, we absolutely wanted to be part of this. Through Astro Rent Cares, we took 2 spots on one of the vans, alongside more than a hundred other local sponsors. It was our biggest sponsorship to date — but when you see what it means to people, every euro is more than worth it.

The impact, one year on

And that impact is very real. The minibus has been in service since 2024 and had already clocked around 24,914 kilometres after barely a year. It goes out almost every weekday: in the morning and at the end of the day to collect care users in Heusden-Zolder and the surrounding area, and in between for outings and medical appointments. That amounts to ten to fifteen trips per week.

The most rewarding part is hearing from the people themselves. One care user put it perfectly: “I love riding in the new ad bus. It’s super cool!” Staff describe the minibus as a real breath of fresh air, and see the many stickers from local businesses as visible proof that the community has their back.

Local commitment, visible on the road

This is exactly what Astro Rent Cares is about: connecting local businesses and care organisations and setting things in motion together — quite literally. We’re proud to have contributed, alongside all those other entrepreneurs, to the wonderful work of ‘t Weyerke.
