The National Park Hoge Kempen in Maasmechelen served as the backdrop this year for the very first edition of Luminexus, an enchanting light walk of nearly 4 kilometres through one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the region. Between the trees and along the paths, the organisers treated visitors to one of the largest and most atmospheric light experiences Limburg has to offer today.

Behind such a magical experience lies a great deal of technology. And it is precisely where, in the heart of a nature park, a reliable internet connection cannot be taken for granted, that AstroRent stepped in.

The challenge: connectivity where no cable runs

An event of this scale runs on more than light and atmosphere. At the entrance, hundreds of tickets need to be scanned quickly and smoothly, and in the food court, visitors expect their payment to go through first time. Nothing is more frustrating than a queue grinding to a halt because the connection drops.

The location made that anything but straightforward. In the heart of National Park Hoge Kempen, there is no fixed infrastructure to simply plug into. Connectivity therefore had to be built up entirely on a temporary basis — and above all: it had to be stable from the very first to the very last hour.

For Luminexus, we set up a temporary network that combines the best of both worlds. We brought in Starlink for a powerful satellite connection independent of any on-site cabling, and aggregated it with 4G/5G for additional stability and redundancy.

The advantage of this approach is immediately clear: if one connection drops momentarily or slows down, the other picks up seamlessly. The network keeps running, even when traffic peaks. For an event where every scan and every payment counts, that is not a luxury — it is a necessity.

Not just the food court

While many people first think of catering when it comes to an event network, coverage at Luminexus went further. In addition to the food court, we also provided a reliable connection for ticket scanning at the entrance.

This means the entire visitor experience — from scanning a ticket on arrival to settling the bill for a drink halfway through the walk — was supported by a single, coherently designed network. No separate solutions each creating their own problems, but a unified whole that allowed the organisation to focus entirely on what mattered.

Why this makes the difference

A good event network is most appreciated when it is absent. When every payment goes through, every visitor enters without a hitch, and nobody needs to worry about the technology, the organisation can focus on what truly counts: delivering an unforgettable evening to their visitors.

That is precisely what AstroRent stands for. We build temporary networks tailored to your event, regardless of how remote or challenging the location is. With a combination of Starlink and aggregated 4G/5G, we guarantee connectivity that will not let you down when it matters most.
