Release Festival 2024
A beautiful location “out in the countryside” — as we say around here — that’s where the Release Festival takes place every year.
Previous edition
The previous edition had problems with ticket scanning and cashless payments at the token stand. A WiFi network was present, but it didn’t quite work as expected. That’s why they decided to partner with Astro Rent this year.
The solution
We provided the necessary WiFi connectivity at strategic locations on the site. Thanks to our satellite internet solution, tickets could be scanned without any problems and payments went smoothly at the token stand.
There were 4 locations that needed internet access:
- The media container
- The token stand/cash register
- The entrance
- The backoffice container
Although we try to plan as much as possible in advance, every installation has a few surprises in store. For instance, the bank terminals needed a wired connection and there was also an additional terminal at the entrance.
We handled this without any problems and made sure these devices also got online seamlessly. At the locations where we had set up WiFi access points, we were able to act quickly thanks to our extensive range of equipment and install a switch that handled both the cabling to the terminal and the PoE (power+data) for the access point.
Always “online”
One of the things we’re proud of is that our entire network has its own power supply that takes over when the power goes out on site. We use Ecoflow battery solutions for this, with capacities between 1 kW and 2 kW. Since a network doesn’t consume much power, we can often keep it online for hours.
Thanks to our focus on modular components in our installation, we can quickly and easily add or swap elements as needed.
Plan B
Because the year before had seen some problems, the organisation wanted to be sure there would be no internet issues. Since they weren’t really familiar with satellite internet, we also prepared a Plan B for peace of mind.
Via fibre optic from the adjacent farm where a fixed internet connection was available, we could have stepped in. However, this wasn’t necessary as Plan A worked without any problems.
